Twitch Being Bought By Google/YouTube (Rumor)

Variety reported yesterday about a possible purchase of the videogame streaming company Twitch for the cost of $1 Billion dollars in order to merge it with YouTube.  This came to be by "sources familiar with the pact" according to the Variety article.

Twitch on its own has become an integral part of all three of the current generation of consoles with the Wii U lacking it being built in while the Xbox One and Playstation 4 now have them as live options for gamers to share what they are playing with the world.  It has become one of the ways many people will either come together to enjoy a particular title or series, get an inside look at a game to help them decide if it is worth their money, or to just enjoy seeing others play and discovering titles.

But it is not happening just yet, as this kind of merger will likely come under the scrutiny of the Justice Department to find out if the grab for Twitch would make YouTube (and thus Google) a possible anticompetitive fource in the online streaming world.

So if this goes through, what do you think will happen to Twitch and the more than 45 million viewers and over 1 million video content creators?  Will there be great new features now that Twitch may have access to the Google wallet, or will we see the slow tumble of the service like we have with YouTube where Google+ becomes required, real names are forced, accounts split, and copyright claims could be slapped onto a streamer in real time?  I know I sound negative about this, but I can see many more things going wrong with this than right sadly.  But who knows...this hasn't even been confirmed yet.

Resident Evil Rises Like The Zombies They Left Behind

The Resident Evil series started off as a watermark for the Survival Horror series way back in 1996 on the Sony Playstation showing myself and many others that a videogame could scare you in a very real way.  The games continued on being ported to just about every system out there (I even played through RE2 on the N64 originally), finally getting the first true rebirth with Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2005 which followed up the hugely succesful Resident Evil 1 remake on the same system 3 years prior.

Read ahead for the new announcements that helped bring my hope back to this Zombie story!

Zenspath Podcast Ep 016 - Traveling Can Suck

Welcome to the first Episode of 2012 and the beginning of Season3 for the Zenspath Podcast!

This is a short epsiode that I pulled together on the road in California to get the ball rolling for the year and because I was getting WAY behind.

The music for this episode is the "Arkham City Main Theme" by Nick Arundel from 2011's Batman: Arkham City.

I talk a little about Zen Pinball 3D being released for the Nintendo 3DS eShop, Sony having some issues with the Vita, Modnation Racers for Vita lets us down, and why SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) has to be stopped along with my feelings and ranting on the matter.

So enjoy this short solo episode with a promise that there will be more to come!

Zenspath Podcast Episode 013 - EPIC Multi-Player Edition!

Welcome to the first 4-person episode of the Zenspath Podcast as well as the first one that also has a contest for a free XBLA copy of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet!

In order to get the game, you need to listen to the podcast, register on the site, and finally leave us a comment about what you thought of the show and tell us what music we used on this episode. [EDITORS NOTE: Because of the difficulty some people are having with my choice, I will be giving more clues as time goes on. This is a SNES ACCLAIM game.] Once we get a correct answer that person will get the code directly from me either via email, or we can get together on Xbox Live and exchange it that way.  More games will be coming in the next few months as I can afford to do them, so please let people know so we can really get this little community going as well as what kinds of games or other give aways you would be interested in!

Now onto the show notes.  We started things off with a very touchy and heated discussion about the whole Gamestop issue regarding them removing a code for a free copy of Deus Ex that Square-Enix had put into the retail PC copies of the game WITHOUT permission or even just letting Gamestop know about it before hand effectivly getting Gamestop to promote a direct competitor on their own dime.  Not cool on Square-Enix, but the situation was handled poorly on Gamestops side as they played damage control when then opened and removed the codes from each game Square-Enix sold them.  Eventually, after we recorded, they did issue a complete recall of the games and they have since been pulled from shelves until something can be fixed.

Other topics we covered:

* ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection bonus content
* Steel Battalion Heavy Armor for Kinect
* Battlefield 3 multiplayer
* New PSP in Europe with no Wi-Fi

* Penny-Arcade making "The Decide-O-Tron"
