Wii-U

Nintendo Direct News

Thursday, March 3rd 2016 Nintendo will be showing a new "Nintendo Direct" in regards to their Summer 2016 Wii U and 3DS titles. It was clearly stated by Nintendo at the time of the announcement that there will be no news about either the still super secretive NX or their up coming miitomo / mobile plans.

This article will be updated tomorrow after the Direct with the news as it is shown.

Operation SMASH Drop!

Well, we have finally gotten everything going for our charity Smash Bros Tournament in support of Operation Supply Drop..."Operation SMASH Drop"!

The event will be held at Gulf Coast State College here in Panama City Florida, in the Advanced Technology Center, on November 14th, 2015!

There will be two parts to the tournament for people to enter if they choose. The first is a 1 v 1 "Human" league, where you will choose your fighter for the tournament at registration and stick with it to the end!

Second is the "amiibo" league, where you train and enter your favorite amiibo to fight it out with other players from around the area. Once again, you register your amiibo and stick with it through the tournament.

This is a charity tournament, so 100% of all money or item donations will go straight to Operation Supply Drop for them to use in conjunction with their great programs such as the "Supply Drop Program" where they "bring fun where there is none" to troops in hospitals or military installations across the world (US and Allied troops), the "Thank You Deployment Program" where they send veterans to various events across the world with a civilian counterparts, and finally the "Teams Program" where they focus on local groups to provide support together to directly address lowering veteran suicide, depression, homelessness, and unemployment.

Entry is FREE, but we appreciate whatever you can donate towards Operation Supply Drop to help them on their mission to help veterans who need it. Email us at Zenspath.com@gmail.com to register early, and make sure to include what character you want to use and/or what amiibo you want to use.  Please include "Operation SMASH Drop" in the subject so I can find it easily.

I thank all of you that have supported this event and helped me towards it upcoming realization for a fantastic cause!  I hope to see you all there Saturday, November 14th!

Sincerely,

Let's Just Drop This Stupid Idea That The Gamepad Should Go Away...

Here to stay....

Ok, Nintendo released an update for the Wii U recently (Version 5.1.0) in which two main things were added: the ability to move content from one Wii U to another and the ability to use the eShop with a Wii Remote, Pro Controller, or Classic Pro Controller now instead of JUST the GamePad as it had been since launch.

This of course has started up the people claiming this is the final "sign" that Nintendo will, and for some reason HAS TO, remove the Gamepad in order to properly run and sell the Wii U.

I'm here to point out how much "BS" that actually is.  Let us begin.

Sonic Boom...Counterpoint

First things first, this is NOT here to "disprove" or say that Arthur's views (found here) on this game are wrong or right in any way...it is just my oppinion and we both have our own on MANY things.  Though I do expect this in a podcast eventually. Could be fun. Now onto the article!

Sega is coming out this year with the last of their exclusive titles for the Sonic franchise on the Wii U that will be connected with a new cartoon series as well.  This has jarred some fans because of the difference in style they have gone with, but the game itself has been something I have greatly looked forward to.  Here are some reasons why I feel this way personally.

Zenspath Fight! - We Play Smash Bros Wii U...and Josh Breaks It

Jeremy (myself), Arthur, Terence, and Josh were able to head over to Mobile on June 14th to get our hands on a preview for Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS which ended up being a mix of hillarious occurences for the trip as well as the gameplay.

I will add in what the others thought, but I personally found the game to be very quick, not Melee quick, but WAY faster than Brawl with a great feel for the controls.  I played as Mega Man for the first match, and then Little Mac for the second and third ones.  Not much was seen of the items, but the levels worked out well for different levels to fight on as well as environmental surprises that worked with their individual themes.  The animations and attention to detail rival that of Nintendo's last game, Mario Kart 8, where everything seems to be ready for a nice close up look in replays and when you pause the game which is great to once again see.

Below are the two videos for the three rounds we played.  The first video contains the first two rounds (the second of which came crashing down) while the last one has our third and final match together.

Let us know what you think of the game and what else you would like to see!

"Chromophore: The Two Brothers Directors Cut" Shown for Wii U

Ackk Studios has dropped the trailer for the upcoming release of Two Brothers for the Wii U eShop, and it seems even more will be changing than we originally thought.

Now titled "Chromophore: The Two Brothers Directors Cut" the trailer shows off the games classical beauty and vibrant use of color..and morbid humor as well.  Make sure to check out the trailer below, and we will update this article once we hear back from Ackk Studios.

Minecraft does what Ninten-don't

What's the deal Developers?

Well, that amazingly addictive "Lego Simulator" Minecraft has been officially announced at Gamescom this week to be coming to the Playstation 3, 4, and Vita which joins the already existing PC, Linux, Mac, Xbox 360, Android, and iPad/iPhone editions.

And if you read that list again, you may notice a particular company seems to be left out in the cold on this deal.  Yep, not a single announcement for Minecraft to show up, in any form, for the Nintendo Wii U or the 3DS.  And no one know why.

Interview with "Two Brothers" Developer Ackk Studios

Well, we were lucky enough to get some time with four of the developers from Ackk Studios to talk about their upcoming title, "Two Brothers".  We are joined by Andrew Allanson, Tony Manfredonia, Jose Alfaro, and Ian Bailey to get the latest on their upcoming title which releases in a few weeks for PC, Mac, and Linux and early 2014 for the Wii U, PS Vita, Playstation 4, and (hopefully) the Xbox 360.

You can find more about these developers at their website (www.ackkstudios.wordpress.com) and make sure to vote for them on Steam Greenlight (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=143503892).  They can be found on Twitter as @AckkStudios.

Surprise! EARTHBOUND

Well, today is the day many (rabbid) fans have been waiting for.  In a surprise ending to their "Mini Direct" earlier, Nintendo announced that the often requested EarthBound is finally available on the Wii U Virtual Console.  It's a great RPG that I recommend people give a go.  It is $10 and is available now.

Enjoy!

Hardware Review - Nintendo Wii U

Release Date: November 18th, 2012
Initial Cost:   $299.99 (Basic) / $349.99 (Deluxe)
Version Reviewed:   Deluxe Set
Games Played for Review: Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U, ZombiU, Trine 2, Nano Assault Neo

Back in 2004 Nintendo showed off what was originally code named (and later permanently so) the Nintendo DS system during their E3 press conference.  Little did we know that we were looking into their console future as well.  Click to continue.

What Wii Recommend for (Wii) U

So, you will have that shiny new Wii U sitting under your TV soon (if you preordered, otherwise good luck) and while you will be enjoying a brand new game or two (or four) you shouldn't forget that you can play the entire collection of original Wii titles on your new system as well.

Plus you really should be getting some Wii Remotes for the upcoming Wii U games, thus you will already have everything you need to play!

So I dug through my collection to bring you a few of my favorites that I think you should give a go especially if you skipped the Wii entirely and just stuck to the Xbox360, PS3, or PC.  I will stick to mostly exclusive titles unless noted that it is a "unique" experience from the Wii version.  So hopefully this will show you that while the Wii did have a huge pile of crap games, there were definetely some diamonds that made it worth digging through in the end.

Now onto my list (in no particular order) Click to continue.

Nintendo Wii U Will Cost $299 to $350 And Other Announcements

Today Nintendo held their press event in New York and finally let the cat out of the bag in regards to (99%) of the launch specifics for their upcoming system, the Wii U.

First with the news that people have been asking for -  the system will be launching in stores on November 18th, 2012 and will be available in two different bundles ranging from $299.99 for the "Basic" set up to $349.99 for the "Deluxe" model.

The "Basic" will come with the console and one Nintendo GamePad controller (both in white), an HDMI cable, a Wii Sensor Bar, GamePad Stylus, the Wii U AC adapter, the GamePad AC Adapter, and 8GB's of built in memory.

The "Deluxe" model comes with everything the "Basic" had, except the system and GamePad are all a sleek black finish instead of white, the memory is bumped up to 32GB from 8GB, both a charging stand for the Gamepad and a basic stand, the stand for the system if you want to display it on its side like the original Wii, and it includes Nintendo Land as a pack in game.

Nintendo Announces a Wii U Specific Event for Sep 13th

Nintendo stated today that they will be holding a press event in New York City on September 13th that is focused on the Wii U and will be hosted by Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.
According to their announcement, the event will be focused on "learning more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment" while hosting hands-on demos for the press after the main show.
This isn't the first time Nintendo has done something like this as they had a similar event a mere two months before the 3DS launch earlier this year as well as one for the Wii a few months before its release back in 2006.
Hopefully this will give us the final price, release date, and what will be included in the box for what I believe will be a November 2012 release.

Zenspath Podcast Ep 016 - Traveling Can Suck

Welcome to the first Episode of 2012 and the beginning of Season3 for the Zenspath Podcast!

This is a short epsiode that I pulled together on the road in California to get the ball rolling for the year and because I was getting WAY behind.

The music for this episode is the "Arkham City Main Theme" by Nick Arundel from 2011's Batman: Arkham City.

I talk a little about Zen Pinball 3D being released for the Nintendo 3DS eShop, Sony having some issues with the Vita, Modnation Racers for Vita lets us down, and why SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) has to be stopped along with my feelings and ranting on the matter.

So enjoy this short solo episode with a promise that there will be more to come!
