Xbox One Makes Some Connections to PC

Well, today has been an up and down day for the Xbox One and PC with the announcement that the official drivers are out for the Xbox One controller which means it can be used for the just announced Dead Rising 3 from Capcom which is coming to the PC Summer 2014.  This has gotten many in the gaming community a little ruffled as Dead Rising 3 was touted as an Xbox One exclusive title even before the systems launch in late 2013.

But on the other hand this is a game that more people should play in my honset opinion.  It may be buggy and have issue, but I have found a great deal of just FUN while running around the city coming up with crazy ways to survive and take out the zombie hordes.  The addition of the Xbox One controller support will help many people make the move one way or the other between the two platforms which could help them both in the long run.

Check out the trailer below, and get the PC drivers for your Xbox One controller HERE.

Ghost Song

...or the new Metroid game you didn't know you wanted. So, who's interested in a game that draws heavy influence from Metroid right down to the lonliness, alien planet, other-worldly monsters and has very high resolution hand drawn animations for each of the enemies?

*Raises hand*

Then you're in the right place. Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope isn't out just yet, but even in it's early development stages, it looks great. What's even more impressive is the fact that the majority of the game is being coded and drawn all by one guy. Matt White. That in itself is very ambitous for anyone to tackle a Metroidvania game, let alone for one individual. But I guess if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

Free Game Friday: Streets of Rage Remake

So if you just happen to be a fan of oldschool games, not to mention games back on the Genesis, then boy do I definitely have a treat for you today.

This beat'em up has been created from the ground up by the fans for the fans featuring a lot of different playable characters from the Street of Rage universe including new ones! A lot of blood and sweat went into this which doesn't normally happens when it comes to fangames of this magnitude.

Streets of Rage Remake is a final product that allows for local multiplayer and includes their own story with endings. Unfortunately, within the week it was released, it was followed by a cease & desist from Sega stating that they were unable to officially host the game for download which is why we can't offer the link here...but lucky for you, I can offer this...

And yes, I know it's not Friday.

Free Game Friday: Black Mesa Source

At long last, the mother of all videogame modifications has arrived at our proverbial doorstep. Black Mesa Source is a full recreation of the original Half-Life story done with the new Source engine, and no I'm not talking about Half-Life: Source. Quite a bit of the game has been recreated, including brand new voice acting and music, to give it a more modern look (and to give people like me a real reason to finally beat it). One could say this mod is as infamous as Duke Nukem Forever. The best part of it all? It's completely free and completely sanctioned by Valve. You can grab it up right here, or torrent.

The game isn't entirely finished, but the team wanted to give us something to play as they add-on more of the story when they can. I know I can't complain about that! All you need to take part in the action is Steam along with the Source SDK installed.

So here's to you, reader. Enjoy your free game today!

Steam's Big Picture Mode is Finally Here...

...but it's only in beta. With that said, it's free and open to anyone that wants to give it a shot. This very unique feature is Valve's way of putting you on the couch more so you can still enjoy those awesome PC games. Only having tried it out for a short time, I really enjoy what it has to offer. It reminds me of a very simplified Xbox Dashboard, and I kinda like that too. Video and more after the break.

Humble Indie Bundle #5

A brand new Humble Indie Bundle deal has arisen yet again this time dubbed "The Humble VOXATRON Debut." This bundle currently includes the games:

  • Voxatron - A very unique game which uses Voxels (which are basically 3D pixels) to create a stylized look with top down camera focus and platforming elements. This game is currently in early stages of development, but they will give you free updates all the up to it's final version and beyond!

  • Blocks That Matter - 2D sidescroller that is part puzzle, part block building similar to Minecraft.

  • The Binding of Isaac - Classic Zelda type sidescrolling gameplay from the guys that gave you Super Meat Boy.

Check after the break for more info and videos!

A Very Awesome GTA4 Mod

Here's a mod that's gaining some popularity in the PC community. It's called iCEnchancer (quite a few photos included in the link as well as news updates) and it was made to well "enchance" the visuals of Grand Theft Auto 4. It does the job clearly to full effect, but not without a few drawbacks as you will definitely need a gaming powerhouse rig in order to run this thing smoothly. When you can get it to run, however, it runs like a dream.

The current released version of it is 1.25, but he's nearly the completion of 1.3 which is supposed to fix a few things and increase the details even more. Make sure to follow the instructions in the readme file as it will show you how to install it and recommend the needed texture packs to reach it's maximum potiential.
